Basic Obedience:
(approx. 1-2 months)

For the family pet or a future Hunting Retriever Champion you’re going to need some basics. Before any intensive training can take place, basic obedience must be completed and done properly in order to have smooth transitions in to later training. At this stage your dog will be learning basic commands such as sit, stay, here, and heel. This is recommended for pups or for family dogs that need some manners. Basic obedience could take anywhere from one to two months depending on the dog’s ability.

Basic Training:
(approx. 4 months)

This stage will begin to test your dog’s ability in the field. Introductions to gunfire, birds, water, boats, cover, basic commands, dog blinds, decoys, four wheelers, and socialization with other dogs are all incorporated with basic training. Your dog will also be conditioned to the e-collar and conditioned retrieved (force fetched). This stage is the foundation for developing a good pup in to a quality retriever. Basic training could take approximately 4 months to complete, depending on the dog’s ability. By the end of this stage one should have a good started dog able to mark down a fallen bird and deliver to hand.

Handling Training:
(approx. 2-4 months)

This stage of training is for the owner that wants a little more than for their dog to mark and fetch. Handling training will introduce multiple marks, blind work, and hand signals. By the end of this stage one should have what HRC considers a good seasoned dog able to retrieve multiple marks, handle to a blind, and deliver to hand.

Advanced Training:

This stage is for the owner wanting to run and compete in tests that are equivalent to HRC finished tests. This stage is for the owner that is looking for a dog that is fine tuned and can complete triple marks, over 100 yd blinds, and can master any obstacles thrown at them.

Pre-Season Tune Ups: (approx. 2-4 weeks)

For those that need that preseason tune up this will be perfect for you. Tightening drills, bucket drills, steadiness and marking will be needed to be ready for opening morning.

Note: All levels of training are $400 per month
